In the summer of 2016, Collier Engineering created an inventory and performed a condition assessment of several Metro Parks facilities as a sample to use for the Planning and Facilities Development Division of the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation. Collier collected location and condition information for various park assets such as signs, benches, bridges, pavement, etc. This information was compiled into several reports and a geodatabase for Metro Parks, and it was used as an input for the Countywide Parks and Greenways Master Plan.

Collier used a condition checklist provided by Metro Parks to prepare a condition assessment survey for exterior building facilities that included items such as pavement materials and condition, building exterior type and condition, estimated age, etc. For interior building facilities, information such as stair hazards, treads and railings, doors and hardware, etc. Additionally, Collier interviewed facility management personnel to gain insight into other unknown issues, planned improvements, and repair actions. Collier collected geographic locations for all sites visited. Similarly, Collier prepared a condition checklist for non-building facilities with information such as fencing, pavement surfaces, and lighting.

In addition to gathering data about park assets, Collier also monitored the entrances to several parks to count pedestrians, cyclists, and cars, and counted the number of people entering the trails at trailheads or access points. This monitoring was conducted seven days a week for two weeks.
