Client:
Metro Nashville Parks and Recreation Department

Collier Engineering was hired by Metro Parks to provide project management assistance in the coordination of conceptual design, stakeholder engagement, and cost estimating for the future development of a pocket park located at 1606 Jefferson Street.

Collier worked in conjunction with the third party design entity Hodgson Douglas Landscape Architects to develop a vision for the future park. A vision that met Metro Parks’ goal of developing a defined neighborhood-scaled park capable of being activated by an intermixed and intergenerational user mix; while also celebrating the North Nashville heritage and Jefferson Street’s historic higher education and civil rights roots influences.

Within the scope of service for this role, Collier supported the concept design phase by conducting preliminary due diligence and site investigations to determine construction feasibility at a granular level for this location. The preliminary design emphasis was largely influenced by the site’s presence of stormwater storage facilities and a series of underground detention structures.
