Warner Park Allée - Nashville, TN

The Warner Park Allée serves as a threshold to the 3000-acre park providing a transition from the formal entrance to the natural environments beyond. The stairs were originally built in 1936 and is one of the most iconic and historic landscapes in the city of Nashville, and over time, this landmarks landscape began to show its age.

Respecting the stairs’ original design intent, Collier Engineering, under the Friends of Warner park’s direction, worked with landscape designers, masonry experts, and the historical society. Our team developed a design that would incorporate restoration of the historic stonework, drainage improvements to resolve erosion issues, new hardscapes that complemented the historic stonework, and a landscape design that would promote the forest’s health and original designs.

Collier worked as part of a design-build team led by the Tradesman Group under the direction of the Friends of Warner Parks. The project was funded almost entirely by private donations through the friends group. Collier staff worked as a liaison between the Friends Group, the contractor, other design team members, and the Metro Parks Department while providing survey, civil engineering, landscape architecture support, and construction materials and engineering (testing) services (including EPSC compliance inspections). The project was completed under budget and reopened to the public in October 2020 after approximately ten months of construction.
