Our Philosophy
Collier Engineering fosters teamwork to create solutions engineered to last. This means utilizing our diverse and talented pool of professionals to develop solutions that are focused on client goals. We encourage communication and work to maximize outcomes while maintaining budgets and schedules.
We pride ourselves on successful project delivery, and our team works proactively to minimize challenges and mitigate risk during construction. This is accomplished by our ability to cross-train design staff with construction inspectors so that our engineers have a real-world understanding on how a design is implemented on-site. The result is a collaborative studio where we develop designs and plans that can be built efficiently and cost-effectively, ensuring our projects stay on schedule and under budget.
This philosophy extends into the field during construction. Our inspectors are trained to help identify and navigate challenges before they become an issue. We work closely with the Contractor to help determine resolutions to typical challenges while protecting the owners’ interests.
Throughout our work, we maintain focus on how we best serve our clients. We work hard to cultivate relationships based on professionalism and trust. We take great pride in developing the infrastructure that supports healthy, vibrant communities.
company president
Chad Collier has served as President of Collier Engineering Co., Inc. since 2003, following the passing of his uncle, James (Jim) L. Collier. With nearly 30 years of experience in civil engineering, Chad specializes in roadway and site development design, construction engineering inspection, and asset management for public infrastructure, including asphalt pavements, sidewalks, signage, and guardrails. He currently advises the Williamson County Highway Commission on transportation projects and technical requests.
Chad began his career with the Tennessee Department of Transportation before earning his engineering degree from Tennessee Technological University in 1996. He joined Collier Engineering as an intern, gaining expertise in roadway design, bridge hydraulics, stormwater calculations, and construction management, achieving licensure in 2000. Upon becoming President, Chad transitioned the firm from a small operation with 6-8 employees serving five counties to a thriving company now partnering with 53 counties and 20 cities across Tennessee.
Under Chad’s leadership, Collier Engineering has expanded its services to include GIS, Landscape Architecture, and Geotechnical Engineering while also entering the private development sector in 2012. Today, the firm employs nearly 80 professionals and provides comprehensive solutions in infrastructure, site development, and asset management, with a focus on delivering projects on time and under budget.
